The fake deliver failure in e-commerce

An average of 46 % of customers have fallen victim to the failed delivery scam in their online purchases. Other serious cases include delivery to an unauthorized address or damaged products

A deceptive technique in e-commerce that is becoming increasingly widespread, affecting 46 % of customers, is the failed delivery of packages with the excuse that no one was home to receive the product.

Those affected often point out that the excuse is false, that they had to change their work or school schedule to be home and receive the purchase, but the doorbell never rang.

This scam is questioned by customers of online sales platforms, who also point out other serious issues, such as a product arriving in poor condition or delivery to an address different from the one provided on the form.

What can the people affected do? In the event of a failed delivery, request a new delivery date and time from the company. If the customer must go directly to an office to pick up the package, check the platform’s website to see if they are entitled to include a receipt for travel expenses.

Regarding damaged products, a replacement can be requested directly through the sales platform by attaching photos of the damaged package. For deliveries to unauthorized or different addresses, such as a neighbor’s house, it is advisable to report the issue to the sales platform to avoid problems or lost packages.
