Days before assuming his new mandate in the White House, Donald Trump announced the creation of the External Revenue Service for the collection of internal tariffs as well as income from other nations.
Trump said on January 14: “Today I announce that we will create the External Revenue Service to collect our tariffs, duties and all income from foreign sources.”
He referred to the current mechanism, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), as a system of “soft and pathetically weak trade agreements” that gives prosperity to the world but taxes the American people.
In this regard, the President of the North American nation indicated that by implementing the External Revenue Service they will begin “charging those who make money at our expense with trade, and they will begin to pay, finally, the part that corresponds to them.”
