The Ministerial Conference on the Digital Economy of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be held between December 13 and 16, 2022 in the Canary Islands and will focus on sustainable, inclusive and competitive digital transformation.
The Conference, which will be the first to be held on European territory, expects the participation of approximately 60 ministers responsible for the digitization sector in their respective countries. Among the guests, the member countries of the European Union stand out, as well as the United States, Japan, Mexico, Brazil and Canada.
The organizers are still analyzing the agenda of the Conference, but the aspects to be discussed are related to “digital rights, international data transfers, the principles of artificial intelligence, disinformation, connectivity, digital security or the double green transition. and digital.”
Canary Islands, leader in smart tourism
The holding of the Ministerial Conference on Digital Economy in the Canary Islands archipelago will become a leader in “intelligent tourism and digital destination for digital nomads” because it is among the 10 fastest growing global destinations for “digital nomads”.
During the Conference, different events will be held on the various islands that make up the archipelago, but it will be held centrally in the municipalities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The Digital Economy Policy Committee is a specialized formation within the OECD, in charge of developing policies based on realities that stimulate the growth of an accessible, innovative, open, inclusive, reliable, sustainable digital economy that promotes social well-being.
This committee is responsible for producing reports with “non-binding” recommendations that help coordinate and support national initiatives on digital transformation.
