Elon Musk’s Starlink company announced the launch of a new, compact and lower-cost Internet receiver with a download speed of 100 Mbps. It is called Starlink Mini, it is waterproof and integrates WiFi.

The tycoon, also owner of Tesla and the social network, recently announced the launch of this device to respond to the needs of customers with more modest budgets.

Starlink Mini “is a recommended device for basic Internet applications and includes everything you need to connect in a matter of minutes,” according to the company.

In Musk’s own words, the new device “will change the world.” He highlighted that “it can be carried in a backpack (its weight is 1.10 kg), it guarantees a download speed of 100 Mbps and has IP67 certification for resistance to dust and water.”

Regarding the energy consumption, it indicated that it is between 25W and 40W; “The receiver (which has a rectangular design measuring 298.5 mm high, 259 mm wide and 38.5 mm deep) integrates support for WiFi 5 and comes with an Ethernet LAN port.”

The device offers coverage of up to 112 square meters; requires a 100W power supply, and withstands temperatures ranging from -30 degrees below zero to 50 degrees.

The commercialization of the antenna has begun in a package that includes a power supply, “a 15-meter DC cable, a Starlink adapter and a stand or support.”
