Russia in favor of creating a national reserve of bitcoin

A member of the Russian State Duma has launched a proposal to create a national reserve of bitcoin, the main cryptocurrency on the market, following the steps of the United States and Brazil

Russia could be in favor of the creation of a national reserve of bitcoin, according to a recent proposal by a member of the State Duma.

Official Anton Tkachev has pointed out that the cryptocurrency could act as a safe reserve against inflation and other factors that affect traditional reserves.

If true, Russia would be following in the footsteps of other nations, such as the United States and Brazil, in considering the creation of a national reserve in BTC.

The digital asset is also considered a payment alternative that has already been adopted in dozens of countries.

Tkachev “presented a formal appeal to the Minister of Finance of Russia, Anton Siluanov, suggesting the establishment of a bitcoin reserve similar to traditional state reserves in fiat currencies.”

The State Duma member stressed that cryptocurrencies “offer a unique advantage in mitigating the risks associated with sanctions, inflation and currency volatility.”

Tkachev’s proposal is in line with the Central Bank’s efforts to integrate digital assets into international payment systems.
