Phishing takes advantage of the summer tourist wave

A study by Antispam Lab anticipated that for these dates there would be an increase in phishing attacks

Summer arrived with phishing campaigns, which have shot at the cost of tourism with content related to vacation trips that flooded the entrance trays of their potential victims since last March.

Campaigns use summer as bait and take advantage of people’s greatest interest in finding a trip for their vacations, as Bitdefender experts indicated, adding that April is the month with the greatest number of fraudulent activity related to tourism, tourism, when an increase of 25 % was detected.

These data, which are collected in the report prepared by the Antispam Lab, anticipate that in June another peak will be experienced again, and even point out that travel -related campaigns have focused especially on the United States, Ireland, India and the United Kingdom.

These campaigns are supported by several techniques used by cybercounts to deceive their potential victims and get their credit card numbers and other personal data, or to get malware to install in their computers visiting malicious websites or by clicking on surveys or competitions that promise, in return, substantial awards.
