Pentagon signs agreement with seven leading AI companies
The announcement of an AI agreement between the Pentagon and SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, Nvidia, Reflection, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services makes clear the interest of the U.S. Department of Defense in implementing this technology in classified military systems
Technology companies SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, Nvidia, Reflection, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services signed an agreement with the Pentagon for the implementation of AI in classified military systems.
The new element in this agreement is the exclusion of Anthropic, due to “a dispute with the Pentagon regarding its demand for safeguards on how the military uses its AI tools.”
The announcement caused a stir among Google employees, who have requested that the company withdraw from the agreement.
In any case, according to the announcement made on Friday, May 1, the goal is to create an “AI-focused combat force,” with a combination of closed-source and open-source models.
