Nicolás Maduro announces changes in his cabinet

The announcement was made by the Venezuelan president on Thursday, indicating that the decision is based on the fact that some of the cabinet members are candidates for the November 21 elections

This Thursday, August 19, Nicolás Maduro reported changes in the executive cabinet, also known as the national cabinet of ministers.

In this way, the Venezuelan head of state explained that Jorge Arreaza will leave the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be responsible for the Ministry of Industries and National Production. While Félix Plasencia will become the new head of Foreign Relations.

On the other hand, Remigio Ceballos Ichaso will be the new Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace and Vice President of the Government for Citizen Security, thus replacing Carmen Meléndez, who will run for Mayor of the Libertador municipality of Caracas.

The Education portfolio will be under the direction of the until now governor of Monagas, Yelitze Santaella and the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality will be governed by Margaud Godoy.

It was also announced that William Serantes Pinto will take over as the new Minister of Ecological Mining Development. On the other hand, the head of the Sports portfolio will be Mervin Maldonado, who will also assume the vice-presidency of the government for Social and Territorial Socialism.

Through his official Twitter account, Maduro stated that the modifications respected the results of the PSUV primary elections, where some of the members of the cabinet were chosen as candidates for the regional and local elections on November 21.
