New York proposes approval of state payments with cryptocurrencies

El estado de Nueva York propuso un proyecto de ley para legalizar el uso de bitcoin y otras criptomonedas en el pago estatales

New York is in favor of state payments with cryptocurrency. This is evidenced by a bill to legalize bitcoin and other digital assets in this area.

State legislator Clyde Vanel proposed Assembly Bill A7788, which seeks to “amend the state finance law to allow New York State agencies to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment.”

If this bill is passed, state agencies would begin using bitcoin for the payment of “fines, civil penalties, rents, fees, taxes, rates, charges, revenue, financial obligations, or other amounts,” as well as penalties, special assessments and interest, and the collection of public funds.

The proposal must be sent to the Assembly Committee for review and then forwarded to the State Senate.
