The National Assembly of Venezuela ratified Tarek William Saab as Attorney General of the Republic on Thursday, October 31, for a new seven-year term.
Saab assumed office for the first time in August 2017. With his reelection, he will remain at the head of this portfolio until 2031.
Likewise, the Venezuelan Parliament also ratified Alfredo Ruíz before the Ombudsman’s Office and appointed Gustavo Vizcaíno, previously in charge of the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime), as the new Comptroller General.
According to the AN, the election of Saab, Ruíz and Vizcaíno was in the hands of a commission appointed by the president of the organization, Jorge Rodríguez.
It is important to note that the positions were voted on by a qualified majority once they were submitted to the Full Chamber. Saab, Ruíz and Vizcaíno thanked the AN for the appointment and ratified their commitment to form a high-level Citizen Power.
