Malicious app on Google Play puts Trezor users at risk

The crypto wallet warned its users about a fake app and claims to have no relationship with the wallet

Major cryptocurrency wallet hardware provider Trezor has reported a malicious app circulating on Google Play and urged its users not to download the app.

The news was released by the company this Monday, January 18, through the official Twitter account, where the provider announced about said app, reminding users that they should never share their seed phrase with anyone.

The company also provided its users with a generic manual on the use of wallets with Android where it listed the main Trezor applications including: Mycelium, Sentinel or Walleth.

At the time Trezor published the news, the malicious app had more than 1,000 downloads and by now it already had 200 reviews in the app store.

According to a user’s post, “This app is a scam. Never enter your seed phrase into anything other than official Trezor hardware. Anyone who asks for this phrase (besides a physical Trezor) is trying to scam you.”
