Looking Glass turns any 2D photo into a hologram

The system generates a depth map of the photograph, and through the software they have developed, transforms it into a holographic image

Looking Glass Factory has developed a system that converts any two-dimensional photograph, digital or physical, into a three-dimensional hologram, a service that will accompany your holographic panel.

The system generates a depth map of the photograph, and through the software they have developed, transforms it into a holographic image, as explained on the campaign page on Kickstarter.

The program supports any type of 2D photography, be it photographs taken with the mobile phone or those saved on the computer, old scanned physical photographs, book illustrations or any other image taken from the Internet. This project is accompanied by a holographic panel, which reproduces the hologram.

As the program is a cloud service, which costs money to maintain, the people in charge of this project want those who have supported them to be able to test it first. For this reason, they have announced that if they reach 2.5 million dollars in collection by January 14, they will offer the first 20 free conversations.

Based on plans shared on the campaign page, the framework will begin rolling out to participating users in March and April. Hologram conversion will be rolled out in spring alongside the framework, and as a premium feature of HoloPlay Studio in the second half of the year.
