Instagram launches the option to hide the “likes”

Now users can choose if they want to hide information about the results of the likes counter in each post

The social network Instagram has begun to test a function that allows users to choose whether to hide the information from the counter of “likes” of the publications, a feature that will also be tested on Facebook later.

Since 2019, although only in the testing phase, Instagram stopped automatically showing the post’s likes counter for some users, so that people can focus more on content and less on popularity.

Now, Instagram has begun to give a small percentage of its users on a global scale, also as a test, the possibility to choose between three options on how they see likes on the platform, as the company has confirmed to TechCrunch.

The first one hides all Instagram like counters, while the second only removes them from the user’s own posts. The third keeps the information intact and continues to report the likes.

This configuration can be established both from the settings menu of the social network and in each publication separately, through the three-point button on the posts.
