Instagram is testing a “dislike” button

Meta is testing a “dislike” button on the Instagram app in comments and reels to allow users to flag posts that are unpleasant or irrelevant.

Social media users are used to flagging posts they like or identify with using the button or icon of a hand with a thumb up or a heart.

In contrast, the dislike button will express whether the user does not agree with a comment, whether they consider it negative or unimportant.

Through his account on Threads, the head of the app, Adam Mosseri, has indicated that for now there is no record or count of the “dislikes” and that they remain private. That is, the user cannot see who has marked the content or reel with this new function.

Mosseri has indicated that they hope that this function will contribute to making the content more user-friendly.
