Google will delete inactive email accounts on December 1
The technology company Google announced that on December 1 it will delete those accounts that have been inactive for two years
Gmail accounts that have been inactive for a period of two years will be deleted on December 1, Google has confirmed recently.
The action, which had already been announced by the technology company a couple of months ago, includes the elimination of all data related to said email accounts.
The main objective of the measure is to prevent these inactive email addresses from being used by cybercriminals to commit scams and other crimes.
Google has indicated that the action is part of strengthening its security measures, to provide confidence and peace of mind to users.
Emails represent one of the most important sources of attack by hackers, who steal passwords and can access data associated with Gmail.
There are some exceptions to the application of this decision, such as company accounts, which will not be deleted, nor those that have a balance; YouTube channels, videos or comments or with an application published on the Play Store.
Google has indicated that users can keep their email accounts active by logging in with their username and password at least once every two years. In addition, they can use services associated with Gmail, such as Photos, Drive or Calendar.
Saving an account that has been inactive for a long time is also possible by simply sending an email, using the account as a way to log in to third-party platforms, sending a YouTube video, among others.
