Google is testing its new real-time voice search tool, Search Live, in the United States, for participants in the AI Mode Labs experiment.
According to the tech giant, Search Live “allows users to use their mobile phone camera to focus on objects and perform live voice queries,” combining the capabilities of Google Lens and AI Mode.
With this feature, Google aims to offer users a real-time conversational search experience through their phone camera and their own voice. “US users can now enjoy this functionality in English from the Google app, on both Android and iOS.”
There are two ways to access Search Live:
- Activate Search Live in Google: by tapping the “Live” icon, represented by sound waves and a flash, located below the search bar.
- Activate Search Live in Google Lens: next to the “Search” and “Translate” options, the “Live” option will appear.
Once activated, the user simply needs to point the smartphone camera at what they are interested in and ask questions. The AI will then provide audio responses, as well as offer selected links for further exploration.
