For the Venezuelan chef with two Michelin stars for his Tokyo restaurant, Maz, the invitation from Bancamiga represents a valuable opportunity to share his technique with the local public, filling the void often felt by those who live abroad for extended periods.

“For me, returning to Venezuela makes perfect sense. I’ve been cooking in Japan for four years now, and although I’ve achieved a great deal there, one always returns to their roots. It was essential to present a menu that integrated what I’ve learned in Japan with the foundation of my experience in Peru and Spain.”

Santiago Fernández Saín was born in Caracas in 1995 and knew from a young age that cooking was his passion. His parents didn’t hesitate to send him to study at the Basque Culinary Center in Spain after he finished high school at El Ávila.

At just 30 years old, he already stands out among the elite of the culinary world. His cuisine is defined not only by luxury but also by narrative. Each dish seeks to connect sensory memory with technical innovation. Bringing his culinary concept back to Venezuela allows him to complete a personal and professional cycle, giving back some of the knowledge he acquired abroad.

“There are so many Venezuelan chefs doing incredible things around the world”

During his visit to Bancamiga’s offices in Altamira, Santiago Fernández Saín expressed his satisfaction and pride that an institution like Bancamiga supports talent abroad.

“There are so many Venezuelan chefs doing incredible things around the world; supporting these initiatives and bringing them back to the country is vital so that people can try them without having to travel all the way to Japan,” he added.

Beyond the kitchen, this Venezuelan is a role model for new generations of chefs in Latin America. His success demonstrates that academic training combined with a passion for one’s roots can break down any geographical barrier, building bridges between continents through food.

In addition to experiencing the cuisine of this Venezuelan chef with two Michelin stars, attendees of the two dinners at the Filomena restaurant will discover Venezuela’s first Passion Card: the “Flavors of the Soul” Debit Card.

According to the parent company, this service was originally aimed at content creators and online personalities, “but now Meta also hopes to attract other users with a cheaper subscription and different features that it has already begun testing in some regions.

The monthly fee will offer improvements to Stories. In this regard, “subscribers to the new service will be able to view other people’s stories anonymously, without the author knowing they have been viewed.”

Additionally, it will be possible to see how many people have reviewed one of their stories, extend its duration by 24 hours, or feature them once a week so they appear at the top of their followers’ Stories feeds.

Paid users will have the option to create unlimited audience lists for their Stories posts.

The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has indicated other new features, such as the inclusion of a search function in the view list that will make it easier to determine if a specific person has viewed your story, and “an animated Super Like to react to other people’s posts.”

Regarding pricing, Meta specified that in Mexico it costs 39 pesos. (about 2 euros per month), in Japan it’s 319 yen (approximately 1.75 euros), and in the Philippines it’s 65 Philippine pesos (around one euro).

At this exhibition, Hyundai showcased its leadership in hydrogen technologies across the entire value chain, from production to its application in mobility solutions.

What is HTWO?

HTWO is Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen brand, designed as a comprehensive platform offering complete solutions within the hydrogen ecosystem.

This initiative integrates the Group’s capabilities in:

Production

Storage

Distribution

Energy Application

It also serves as an open platform for collaboration, investment, and strategic partnerships, accelerating the transition to a future hydrogen-based society.

Technology and solutions

During the event, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Japan), attendees and visitors were able to learn about a wide range of innovations developed by Hyundai Motor Group, such as:

Hydrogen Refueling Stations

Hydrogen-Powered Trams

Fuel Cell Electric Buses and Trucks

Fuel Cell Systems

Automatic Hydrogen Refueling Robot (ACRH)

The Iconic and Surprising NEXO

Furthermore, at the Japan Mobility Show, Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the all-new NEXO model, an advanced fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), marking its debut in Japan and underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovations related to the use of hydrogen.

To clarify, the Hyundai NEXO is a hydrogen-powered vehicle. It uses a fuel cell that converts hydrogen into electricity to power an electric motor, emitting only water vapor. It is an advanced and extraordinary example of sustainable mobility.

The new NEXO joins Hyundai Motor’s extensive portfolio of electric models showcased in Tokyo, including the INTEROID concept car, the award-winning IONIQ 5, and the INSTER Cross. Together, this range highlights Hyundai’s electrification capabilities and its commitment to offering innovative mobility solutions that meet the demands of a constantly evolving automotive landscape.

International media outlets and analysts have noted that Hyundai has undertaken its largest public activation of the brand and its products in the Japanese market to date. Hyundai Motor aims to share, explain, and inform about its vision for electrification and hydrogen effectively that resonates with Japanese consumers.

As is known, Down syndrome “is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21, a phenomenon known as trisomy 21, which causes physical and cognitive alterations in those who suffer from it, such as heart defects, hearing loss, and difficulties in speech and learning development.”

At Mei University, scientists have applied a gene editing technique that could allow the complete elimination of the extra chromosome.

According to the PNAS Nexus publication, the scientists used “a tool called CRISPR-Cas9 to eliminate excess chromosomes in affected cells and return cell behavior to its normal function.”

This action aids in gene editing, which uses an enzyme to identify specific DNA sequences. “Once the enzyme finds a matching site, it selectively removes the extra copy of chromosome 21. This process, called allele-specific editing, allows the cutting enzyme to act only on the trisomy without affecting the rest of the genetic material.”

As a result, the group of scientists observed that gene expression normalized. Furthermore, the corrected cells accelerated their growth, with a shorter doubling time.

The discovery is a remarkable step toward controlling chromosome 21, which causes Down syndrome worldwide.

This decision arises from concern about Donald Trump’s threats to apply tariffs to other nations as he is doing to China, Mexico and Canada.

For this agreement between Japan and the United Kingdom, a first 2+2 Economic dialogue took place, with the participation of the Foreign and Trade Ministers of both countries, who expressed their commitment to “address the energy and security challenges posed by the new policies of the United States Administration.”

This was stated by the Japanese Foreign Minister, Takeshi Iwaya, in a press conference: “Sharing fundamental values, Japan and the United Kingdom will continue to cooperate to defend and strengthen a free, fair and rules-based international economic order.”

Iwaya met in Tokyo with his British counterpart, David Lammy; there were also meetings between the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yoji Muto, and the British Minister of Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds.

The objective of this international trade association is “to promote bilateral exchanges and investment, with the aim of strengthening a bilateral relationship of 27 billion pounds (about 32 billion euros) annually,” according to data from the British Foreign Office.
