Iran plans to launch three satellites on March 20, 2027, as part of an ambitious project consisting of 18 main satellites and 6 backups.

The country continues to invest in the space industry. Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technologies, Sattar Hashemi, has stated that this is a strategic sector, where a constellation of 24 satellites is planned to operate together to ensure stable communications and data transmission.

The system will consist of 18 main satellites and 6 backups. The first three satellites will be launched simultaneously in a single launch.

The satellites will allow the country to offer communication and data transmission services via space infrastructure, in addition to Earth observation and natural resource monitoring.

“Iran is also developing low-Earth orbit satellites. These devices operate at a relatively low altitude above the Earth and can be used for communication and data transmission services.”

The signing of this agreement is an endorsement of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime and will help members collect and share digital evidence, combat the use of cyberspace to commit crimes, and strengthen regulations in this field.

“The group urged all member states to sign the document during the official ceremony scheduled for Hanoi in 2025, and to work on the development of an additional protocol addressing other crimes enabled by digital technologies, in accordance with General Assembly resolutions 74/247 and 75/282.”

Venezuela and the 11 signatory countries urged the UN to establish a “Permanent Mechanism on ICT Security, to replace the current open working group on the peaceful use of information technologies (2021–2025). The objective would be to consolidate a stable, consensus-based institutional framework to address cybersecurity issues from the perspective of international peace and stability.”

The document is critical of sensitive issues such as the use of new technologies as tools for interference in internal affairs, “political destabilization, and manipulation through satellite internet networks.”

The twelve nations advocate multilateralism, non-interference, and respect for each state’s national legislation.

The report also projects global oil supply, forecasting that production from non-OPEC countries will reach between 67.59 and 68.88 million barrels per day in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

US legislators approved this Friday a bill to toughen economic sanctions on Iranian oil, with 342 votes in favor and 69 against.

The House of Representatives approved the measure that seeks to “punish international refineries and ports that work with Iran and therefore violate US sanctions.”

Although the measure must be approved by the United States Senate, for which a date has not been announced, it has the support of members of both parties.

Republican Congressman Mike Lawler and Democrat Jared Moskowitz said in a joint statement about tightening economic sanctions on Iran’s oil, they noted that “the vote “sends a loud and clear message to bad actors like China, Russia and others: no. Help Iran avoid sanctions by helping them finance terrorism, or face the consequences.”

Despite hostilities between the United States and Iran, the latter’s exports have continued, mainly to China. In fact, the Asian country concentrates 80 % of these economic transactions.

The list reaches 40 nations around the world, eager to be part of this group considered “inclusive” in monetary and financial matters.

The President of South Africa highlighted during the closing of the summit that the new members of the group will become official members as of January 1, 2024.

The welcome reactions from the authorities of those admitted by the BRICS have not been long in coming. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Ethiopia’s prime minister, has described the decision as a historic moment for his country. “Ethiopia is ready to cooperate with everyone for an inclusive and prosperous world order,” he stressed on the X social network.

The main objective of these agreements is “to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Venezuela in the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil industry.”

Both parties have also focused on the “development of oil and gas fields”, as well as the reconstruction and renovation of oil refineries in the Venezuelan territory in order to maximize their capacity.

Other key sectors that were also considered establishing the new agreements are: “the reconstruction and modernization of the Venezuelan petrochemical complexes with Iranian technical and engineering services and equipment; the reconstruction and modernization of the loading dock, the oil terminal and the trade and export of oil, gas condensate and petroleum products.”
