The company has spent months working on features to make the platform easier to use, with options such as companion mode, that is, a function that makes it possible to link the same account on two devices at the same time.

Last June, WABetaInfo announced that the platform is developing a similar function to use multiple platform accounts on the same device, which would initially be reserved for the business version, that is, WhatsApp Business.

This same portal now said that this feature began to reach more Android users, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.23.17.8, released through Google Play.

To add a new account, tap the arrow icon next to the QR code button. It is then that a menu opens in which the “Add account” option appears, under the main account established in that terminal.

In this same menu it is also possible to switch to a different account and, in case a new account is added, it will remain on the device until the account is closed.

WABetaInfo stated that this feature allows users to keep their private chats and work conversations in a single app and that it keeps their notifications separate.

He also added that from now on, instead of configuring different platform accounts separately on each mobile, you can use a single application on your main device to access them.

This option is already available for some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp for Android and will reach other users of this operating system in the coming weeks.

The messaging platform allows you to transfer your history and files to a new ‘smartphone’ using a copy in the cloud or using a cable to connect the two devices. From this Friday, it is also possible to do so by scanning a QR code.

In this case, the transfer process is limited to two devices that use the same operating system (Android or iOS) and allows it to be done without having to exit the application, just by keeping the two phones close, as explained by WhatsApp in a statement.

It is also a more private process, since it does not use third-party applications, which may lack clear privacy practices, or cloud services. As they explain from WhatsApp, “the transfer process is authenticated with a QR code, the data is only shared between your two devices and is fully encrypted during the transfer.”

The possibility of carrying out this transfer was launched last year to enable the transfer of data from an iPhone to an Android, starting with the Samsung Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Now, the owner of the instant messaging app, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced the extension of this feature in a Facebook post.

Zuckerberg says that from now on, WhatsApp will allow the transfer of chat history, images, videos and audios from an Android device to an iPhone, and it will do so safely.

The co-founder and CEO of Meta stressed that the process will keep the point-to-point encryption of these files intact during the procedure, which has been recognized as one of the most requested by its user base.

The specialized portal WABetaInfo explains that, for the migration process to be successful, the user must have Android version 5 onwards of the operating system installed on their device and iOS 15.5 on their iPhone.
