Ecuador imposes transit visas for Venezuelans and 44 other nationalities

Daniel Noboa's government announced the implementation of a transit visa for visitors from Venezuela and 44 other nationalities in order to strengthen immigration control and security

Security and immigration control in Ecuador will be strengthened by requiring a transit visa for visitors from Venezuela and 44 other countries.

The announcement was made on the social media platform X by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, stating: “Ecuador will require transit visas for those nationals in transit from countries that currently require a visa to enter the country and for those determined by the human mobility authority.”

The Daniel Noboa administration agreed to the measure as part of its “strategy to strengthen security and immigration control,” in addition to “combating transnational organized crime, with an emphasis on human trafficking and migrant smuggling.”

Regarding the transit visa requirement, it applies to citizens of 45 countries, including Afghanistan, “Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, India, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Nepal, Congo, Senegal, Venezuela, Vietnam, Haiti, China, Mali, Ivory Coast, and Sudan.”
