Cost of the Family Food Basket for June reached $550.39

The director of the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM), Óscar Meza, indicated that the cost of the Family Food Basket for the month of June was $550.39

The report from the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers regarding the cost of the Family Food Basket for the month of June indicates an increase compared to the previous month of 0.6%, since it stood at $550.39.

This was indicated by the director of said organization, Óscar Meza, who stressed that “at least one member of a family must earn 18.34 dollars a day to be able to purchase the food they need.”

Meza declared on his social networks that the 0.6 % increase in the basic basket in the month of July corresponds to 3.26 dollars, and pointed out that currently “the purchasing power of the minimum wage is 0.6 %. A family needed 170 minimum wages per month to purchase the 60 products that make up this Food Basket.”

The greatest variation in prices was located in the items: “cereals and derived products (2.03 %); meats and their preparations (2.75 %); fish and shellfish (0.42 %); milk, cheese and eggs (1.74 %); fats and oils (1.47 %); fruits and vegetables (0.89 %); roots, tubers and others (0.50 %); beans, peas and lentils (0 %); sugar and salt (6.99 %); sauce and mayonnaise (0.35 %) and coffee (0 %).”
