Blackberry ends support for its operating system

The Canadian company announced that from this January 4 it will no longer support its version 7.1 OS, 10 and OS 2.1

BlackBerry ended the support of the services of the brand’s phones, which will no longer be available from this January 4, which may affect the making of calls or the WiFi connection.

The technology company retired legacy services for BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier versions, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions, as it announced in a statement at the end of December.

This action means that support for those services will effectively cease to be available “after January 4, 2022” and will therefore cease to function “reliably”.

More specifically, the company highlighted that the withdrawal of legacy services will affect Wi-Fi and mobile data connections, telephone calls, sending SMS and emergency calls.

In principle, this change does not affect BlackBerry devices with an Android operating system, such as the KEY models manufactured by TCL.
