Bitcoin mining moves to Argentine Patagonia

The destination in the South American country is a niche for technologies since the 80s. Today it is a bitcoin mining center in full growth

Cryptocurrency mining is a booming activity in countries such as the United States, Canada and China. Another nation that joins the activity is Argentina, specifically in the region of Patagonia.

In the destination, businesses related to the technologies were established in the 80s, although later the activity declined. Currently, it is the epicenter of bitcoin mining.

The idea came up in a group of Argentine partners, who matured the idea of positioning a place as remote as Patagonia to generate cryptocurrencies, specifically in Ushuaia.

Miguel Klurfan, Rodrigo Benzaquen, Walter Salama and Diego Pando are the founders of Bit Patagonia, with an investment of USD $ 10 million. This allowed them to have the necessary equipment to mine.

On this pioneering initiative in Argentina, Pando said: “Our focus is on Bitcoin, but we also target other currencies such as Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash.”
