Biden will receive Ursula Von der Leyen at the White House on March 10

Ursula von der Leyen will meet US President Joe Biden on March 10 during a trip to North America that also includes Canada

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will meet on March 10 with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, at the White House, as part of a week-long trip to North America that will also take her to Canada, where she will be received by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The visit to Canada and the United States will be the occasion to discuss transatlantic relations, which, at this time, combines positive aspects such as the high level of cooperation to help Ukraine militarily in the face of the Russian war of aggression and to increase pressure against the Kremlin, with other less prolific ones such as the clash over Biden’s anti-inflation plan, which includes subsidies to American industry, considered by the EU as discriminatory.

In any case, the trip will begin in Canada, where the community president will arrive on Monday, March 6, to meet the next day, Tuesday, with Trudeau at the Kingston military base. This represents the harmony in defense matters between Canada and the EU in the midst of the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

Von der Leyen will travel to Washington on Wednesday to meet with Biden on Friday, the 10th, according to the agenda revealed by the European Commission in a statement, in which it indicates that cooperation between the EU and the United States and geostrategic priorities will focus the appointment at the White House.

Brussels insists that the meeting between the head of the European Executive and the US president will also be the opportunity to send a leadership message on ecological transition, innovation and technology.
