Presented by Rodri Sábato, cycling and sports enthusiasts will gather this Sunday at 8:30 pm for a unique event filled with effort and passion, in which more than 1,000 cyclists give their all to cross the finish line at 4,200 meters above sea level
In partnership with ByM Sport, Bancamiga premieres this Sunday, May 4th, on the Simple TV and Inter platforms, the documentary Gran Fondo Collado del Cóndor cycling race with the longest climb in the world, a unique feature that allowed it to achieve Guinness World Record certification.
Cycling and sports enthusiasts in Venezuela and around the world will appreciate the evolution of an event that began in 2021 with just over 300 participants and how the number of registered participants has now exceeded 1,000, all giving their all to reach the summit of the Collado, in the state of Mérida, at 4,200 meters above sea level.
Presented by international influencer Rodri Sábato, the 33-minute audiovisual will be an unforgettable opportunity to experience the majesty of the Andes and connect with the epic battle that cyclists wage kilometer after kilometer against the wind, altitude, and mountains. Also to the efforts of the six experienced cyclists José Rujano, Alfonso Márquez, José Alarcón, Jeison Avendaño, Edwin Becerra, and Alan Noya for crossing the finish line in under 5 hours and 15 minutes in the Bancamiga Ultrabikex Challenge.
The Gran Fondo Collado del Cóndor has become the most attractive and demanding cycling competition in the country, bringing together cyclists across four distances: 26 kilometers from Mucuchíes; 46 kilometers from Valle Hermoso; 80 kilometers from Mérida; and 125 kilometers from Estanques.
“Gran Fondo Collado del Cóndor: A Guinness Record for Venezuela” on Simple TV and Inter this Sunday night
In the special broadcast across the Americas this Sunday at 8:30 pm (after the end of the Professional Basketball Super League match), two women, Amanda Dudamel and her mother, Nahir Newman, show their courage in conquering the Collado del Cóndor and how they are capable of surpassing their own limits on a route with beautiful landscapes and a wealth of human warmth.
Although it was only on Sunday, March 23rd, when the cyclists fought to reach the Collado, they spent many months training, encouraged and inspired along the way by international cyclists such as Slovenian Tadej Pogačar, winner of last year’s Tour de France and Giro d’Italia; Colombian Egan Bernal, who in 2019 became the first Latin American to win the Tour de France; and Colombian Nairo Quintana, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2014.
The documentary about the Collado del Cóndor Gran Fondo involved hundreds of hours of production in Caracas and various locations in Mérida, which today allows us to showcase a historic event, the Guinness World Record, with the passion of the cyclists and all those who took to the streets early in the morning to also take part in the highest Gran Fondo on the planet.
