The president of the Venezuelan Federation of Baking and Related Industries (Fevipan), Tomás Ramos, stated in an interview with Unión Radio that the country’s annual wheat flour consumption is 1,200,000 tons.
The monthly average is 100,000 tons, according to the executive, who emphasized that the country has “small mills that contribute their share to the production of wheat derivatives.”
These mills make a significant contribution to the sector, where wheat imports have been reduced.
Ramos emphasized: “We have no shortage of raw materials” for the production of wheat flour and its derivatives. He also referred to investments in Venezuela, where “healthy competition is expected, one that benefits Venezuelans and provides us with raw materials; therefore, it is welcome.”
