Alibaba’s Quark Smart Glasses to be launched before the end of the year

Competition in the smart glasses segment is expanding with the announcement of Alibaba's upcoming product launch, called Quark AI Glasses

E-commerce company Alibaba has joined the competition for the best smart glasses with the announcement that it will launch Quark AI Glasses before the end of 2025. It joins industry giants such as Meta and Xiaomi.

This will be Alibaba’s debut in the wearable technology space, offering glasses that incorporate AI and aim to “improve productivity and make users’ daily lives easier.”

The Quark AI Glasses product offers features such as “hands-free calling and music streaming,” real-time translation ideal for travelers, and even a smartwatch with a built-in microphone. Also, “meeting transcription that can save time when taking notes; a built-in camera to capture moments or documents; guided navigation and price comparison on Taobao; instant payments through Alipay,” among others.

These features are supported by Quark, the digital assistant developed by Alibaba, and Qwen. It is based on its own artificial intelligence model. All of this allows the smart glasses to interpret voice commands, manage tasks, and offer contextual responses.

“Unlike Meta, which has focused on integration with social networks, Alibaba’s focus appears to be on productivity, commerce, and everyday services. The ability to directly access platforms like Taobao or Alipay makes these glasses a practical tool for everyday life in China.”

The company is entering the digital world by launching the Quark AI Glasses, which “act as a mobile and intelligent interface that extends the user’s digital experience beyond the mobile phone or computer.”
