Peru will award 5G technology in the first half of 2025, in accordance with the legislative decree approved on August 14 that allows the allocation of the frequency of this band for mobile telephony and higher.
By next December, they estimate that they will have the amount of valuation of 5G technology, according to the vice minister of communications of Peru, Carla Sosa, who stated that this step “will contribute to closing digital gaps throughout the country.”
Sosa said: “It will not only allow progress in closing infrastructure gaps with 4G but also in the implementation of 5G so that industries and citizens can have higher speed internet to improve productive areas, improve access to health services, medicine and health.”
The Peruvian government is focused on technological advancement, mainly the Internet of Things (IoT), optimization of production processes, “the automation of some production chain, automated vehicles, among others, which will generate new efficiencies in companies.”
Regarding citizens, he stressed that the 5G band is more thought of “in geolocation, the use of remote controls for equipment in the home, among others,” as a way to improve the quality of life of families.
