Instagram announced that it will start testing a new design of its feed that will allow them to offer content in full screen, in order to give more relevance to videos and images in that section.
The CEO of Meta was in charge of announcing the changes through his official account on the Instagram social network. Zuckerberg shared a story where he “shows how the new vertical full-screen layout works.” During the presentation, he noted: “We want to make it easier to discover content and connect with friends.”
An Instagram spokesperson explained that the test will allow testing “some changes in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen“, which will incorporate shortcuts that will allow new publications and access to messages.
Full screen content
When accessing the content on the Instagram social network, it opens in “full screen”, separating it from the other videos in the feed and with margins in the color of the screen theme. The format is very similar to those found on reels.
According to Zuckerberg, photos continue to be very important for Instagram, and he stressed that the company is working hard on different formats that facilitate “improving the way they are displayed in a full screen feed.”
Although further details about the “new functionality” are unknown, it will be implemented for some users who will participate, in the next few days, in the screen tests and the company hopes to have a pleasant feedback on the experience.
Last May, the social network carried out its first full-screen feed test, but some users expressed their disagreement with the way the content was displayed.
