EA could change the name of FIFA game

The franchise referred to the good results that its last title has left, and spoke about a return in its identity in the future

Electronic Arts (EA) spoke about the good results that the FIFA 22 video game has produced since its launch on September 26, also highlighting the possibility of a name change in the future.

FIFA 22 hit the market on September 26, and since then 9.1 million players have joined the game, 7.6 million Ultimate Team squads have been created and 460 million games played, as indicated the company in a statement.

EA, however, is already looking to the future of the franchise, which is sustained by the ecosystem of signed agreements and licenses, and which allows it to offer “unrivaled authenticity” in all EA SPORTS football games.

Currently, they indicate, it is the only soccer franchise that brings together the main leagues in the world: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga and LaLiga Santander, among others.

But the company said EA SPORTS football, which is primarily identified as FIFA, could change its name. “We are exploring the idea of renaming our global games EA SPORTS soccer. This means that we are reviewing our naming rights agreements with FIFA, which is separate from all of our other official agreements and licenses in the world of soccer.”
