Inflation in Argentina continues to grow

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses determined that the indicator advanced 4.8 % month-on-month in March

Argentina’s inflation advanced 4.8 % month-on-month in March, the highest level so far this year, which in the accumulated rate of the year is 13 %, according to data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).

In March, the activities of the education sector (28.5 %) were the ones that increased their prices the most, followed by clothing and footwear (10.8 %).

The increase in cigarette prices explained most of the increase observed in the group of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.4 %), while the reopening of cinemas in most regions of the country influenced the increase in prices of the recreation and culture activities (5.3 %).

For its part, the rise in the transportation division (4.2%) was mainly due to increases in the purchase prices of vehicles, fuels and taxis in the Buenos Aires region. On the other hand, medicinal products and other health equipment contributed to the increase in the Health sector (4 %).

The divisions of communication (0.1 %) and housing, water, electricity and other fuels (1.3%) were the ones with the smallest increase in March, and also those that showed the smallest increase in year-on-year terms.
