Keiko Fujimori announces a unified command of Armed Forces and National Police in the fight against crime

The President of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, ordered the creation of a unified command of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Police to combat crime and delinquency in the country

Keiko Fujimori, President of Peru, announced the creation of a unified command, called the Combined Forces for the Fight Against Organized Crime, to combat crime and delinquency, made up of the Armed Forces and the National Police.

The president stated that curbing and defeating crime in the country is a priority for her administration and referred to the creation of the unified command as key to fulfilling the constitutional mandate to protect the population against all threats to their security.

Last week, Fujimori reaffirmed her commitment to upholding the Constitution. The unified command will be comprised of the Navy, the Army, the Air Force, and the National Police, with an operations center at Army Headquarters. This will allow for the coordination of all operations and actions to provide protection to the population, enforce the law, and administer justice to criminal organizations, with an elite group dedicated to the search and capture of criminals through operations.

Peru will also have a special executive mission to combat crime, dedicated to designing actions in conjunction with ministries and other actors when necessary.

Fujimori mentioned the participation of the Financial Intelligence Unit, the National Intelligence Directorate, and telecommunications companies to unify forces in this fight.
