Venezuela reaffirms diplomatic ties with Trinidad and Tobago
Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, announced this news on Wednesday, September 23, during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly
During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, a meeting took place between Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who agreed to reestablish diplomatic ties between their two countries.
Diplomatic ties were re-established based on the bonds of “friendship, good neighborliness, trust, and cooperation.” Both representatives also announced “a working agenda on matters of common interest,” according to a statement from Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia on his Instagram account.
Among the points to be addressed in this bilateral agenda are the strengthening of areas such as “trade, energy, security, air connectivity, tourism, disaster risk management, environmental protection, agriculture, and culture.”
As part of the re-establishment of diplomatic ties, official visits to their respective capitals are planned.
