Venezuelan government and opposition extend dialogue session until September 23
Representatives of the Venezuelan government and opposition resumed dialogue last week and announced a continuous session until Wednesday, September 23
The dialogue table between representatives of the Venezuelan government and opposition will remain in continuous session until Wednesday, September 23, according to a statement from both sides.
Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly, and Dinorah Figuera, representing the 2015 Opposition Assembly, are leading the dialogue, which addresses crucial issues for the country’s recovery, as well as respect for the commitments and agreements reached.
Dialogue resumed last week when both delegations met again to address these issues. They welcomed “the national government’s decision to lift restrictions on access to digital portals, an action that strengthens access to information.”
Both groups announced the establishment of the “Technical Working Group for Freedom of Expression, Plurality of Thought, and the Right to Information,” a forum designed to develop a process of consultation, guarantees, and progress monitoring with stakeholders and the public for this second phase of work.
