Consecomercio warns of power outages impact on national commerce
The National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio) indicated that the power outages announced by the Venezuelan government will impact commerce given the limited self-generation capacity of businesses, the disruption of service provision, disruption of merchandise distribution logistics, as well as the operation of WiFi networks, billing systems, and payment terminals
The National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio) indicated last week that the power outages announced by the Venezuelan government have a direct impact on key sectors of the economy.
The power outages directly affect the merchandise distribution chain, as well as payment systems and platforms. On the other hand, Consecomercio warns of disruptions to public services, such as the pumping of drinking water.
“The constant outages affect essential processes such as logistics, the loading and unloading of goods, the operation of automated systems, computers, Wi-Fi networks, payment terminals, and billing software,” the trade association stated.
Another sector that could be greatly impacted by the power outages is the cold chain for food, medicine, and chemical products, “as well as damage to raw materials and failures in internal services such as elevators, electric gates, and air conditioning systems.”
