Binance starts rollout of payment card in Venezuela
Binance has begun the gradual rollout of its Binance Card in Venezuela. The card will allow citizens to make direct payments with digital assets at physical and online stores
The Binance crypto platform has begun the gradual rollout of its Binance Card in Venezuela, offering a new payment tool for direct transactions at both physical and online stores.
It was learned that the activation of this new service will be notified to eligible customers as its availability expands across the country. The launch coincides with the “sustained rise of stablecoins in the Venezuelan economy, with USDT leading the way. Driven by inflation, restrictions on access to foreign currency, and the limitations of the traditional banking system, citizens and businesses have massively adopted these assets as a mechanism for income protection, a channel for remittances, and a means for commercial transactions.”
Unlike the previous payment model, where users had to convert their funds to bolivars through P2P (peer-to-peer) platforms before making a payment, Binance Card simplifies the process by “automatically converting cryptocurrencies to local currency at the exact moment of the point of sale, allowing direct transactions at any merchant connected to the associated payment network.”
