Haiti calls for presidential and legislative elections in 2026
The first round of the presidential and legislative elections in Haiti will be held on August 30, 2026, according to the Provisional Electoral Council
The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Haiti announced that the first round of the presidential elections in the country will be held on August 30, 2026, and a possible second round would be on December 6.
According to the body that governs the electoral processes, local elections would take place on December 6, when a presidential second round is expected.
The electoral campaign will begin on March 15 and end on August 29 of next year, while the results of the first round will be published on October 3.
Haiti has gone a decade without elections. Therefore, CEP authorities are confident that after the elections they will have new authorities in place starting January 20, 2027.
