X launches iOS app update with video editing tools

The social network X, formerly Twitter, updated its iOS app this week with important tools for creators, geared towards video editing on the platform

X’s product director, Nikita Bier, announced this week the update to the social network’s iOS app, with new video editing tools for creators.

One of the goals of this change is to “encourage the creation of original content within the platform” thanks to a “new editor and recorder that aims to prevent creators from republishing material from other platforms.”

In this regard, the multilingual overlay feature stands out, allowing users to add automatic subtitles in several languages directly onto the video. Additionally, users can modify aspects such as “style, typography, and design to adapt them to the type of content they want to publish from their X account.”

Another innovation is “green screen, a feature that allows you to change the video background using images stored on the user’s phone or any X post. This tool makes it easy to create reaction videos, memes, and news commentaries directly from the app.”

Regarding the anticipation of these new features coming to Android, Bier told TechCrunch that “both features are debuting first on iOS because the Android version is undergoing a complete rebuild from the ground up.”
