Windows 7 is still part of 25% of computers

The operating system, which since January is no longer supported by Microsoft, continues to be part of many computers in the world

Microsoft withdrew support for Windows 7 last January but this version of its operating system is still installed on a quarter of the computers globally, while Windows 10 appears as the most widespread system.

The end of support for Windows 7 means that your users will be exposed to cyber threats, since they will not have new updates or security patches. This, however, does not prevent it from continuing to be one of the most installed systems in the world, with 24.28% of the market.

Although Windows 7 is still present in almost a quarter of the computers globally, its use has decreased in the last year: in May 2019 it accounted for 35.44% of installations, and in January 2020, when the support, 25.56%.

On the other hand, Windows 10 is the most widespread operating system globally. This May, the market reached 57.83%, compared to 45.73% in May 2019. Windows 8.1 is in third position (3.04%) followed by MacOS X 10.14 (2.46%).
