WhatsApp limits message forwarding to 5 individuals or groups

The instant messaging application is limiting the forwarding of messages to only 5 recipients to reduce the phenomenon of fake news

Recently the WhatsApp platform limited the forwarding of messages to a maximum of 20 people or groups with the purpose of reducing the spread of spam and fake news. Apparently the action that was taken was not really effective because spam, false news and chains are a fact within the app.

According to the published in Reuters, the limit of the five recipients for the forwarding of messages already had begun to implement in India during July of the past year and now it will be for all the users.

Victoria Grand, vice president of policy and communications at WhatsApp, said: “We announce that we are imposing a limit (re-transmission) of five messages for everyone from today”.

The preserve will be applied first to Android users and later to iOS users. However, the lag should not take too much time.
