The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android brings a new feature for users: conversation threads to track the best replies in their chats.
With this feature, replies are organized below the original message for clearer and easier-to-follow chats, as related replies appear linked in a structured way.
The goal of the new feature the app is testing is to “simplify interaction, especially in very active group chats, where replies can get lost among the large number of messages.”
In this sense, each original message in the conversation “can have its own thread that displays all related replies, allowing users to focus on the topics that really interest them without being distracted by irrelevant conversations.”
To access a thread, the user simply taps a reply indicator within the message itself. In addition to opening the thread view, this indicator will also show the number of associated replies. “From the thread view, users can add new replies, which will be linked to the last message received.”
Additionally, replying to a specific comment within the thread can be marked as a “follow-up reply,” which can help chat participants follow the flow of the conversation.
For now, the feature is only available to Android beta testers, and details about a release date for all users are unknown.
