Warner Bros will bet on the use of AI

The entertainment company will seek to predict the box office collection of the film, before it is carried out

The American company Cinelytic, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict the collection at the box office of a movie before it takes place, announced that Warner Bros will use its system to improve the process of choosing new projects.

Cinelytic combines AI and cloud-based technologies to collect historical data on productions that have been made over the years and then compare them with information on their subject matter.

The company’s software also allows modifications to the script or to change the actors to see how it would affect the film.

Cinelytic stressed that the system will be used to reduce the time that executives spend on “low value” tasks, but focuses on “generating actionable information for approval decisions, marketing and distribution in real time,” according to the statement issued.

Tobias Queisser, co-founder and CEO of Cinelytic, said he is “very excited” to work with Warner Bros to “bring the power of real-time predictive analysis to content and talent valuation decisions.”

For his part, the Vice President of International Distribution of Warner Bros, Tonis Kiis, said that “in our industry we make difficult decisions every day that affect what and how we produce and deliver films around the world. The more accurate our data, the better we can involve our audience”.
