Walmart seeks to compete with Amazon Prime through its own ecommerce platform

The largest supermarket network in the United States announced a membership plan that includes shipping costs, as does Amazon Prime

Competition in e-commerce does not stop because of Covid-19. An example of this is the launch of a new platform for sending online purchases by Walmart, scheduled for September 15.

It is about Walmart +, “a membership program, which includes shipping costs, to compete with Amazon in the field of electronic commerce“, and which has attracted the attention of companies in the online commerce sector in times of pandemic.

Based in Bentonville (Arkansas), the largest supermarket chain in the United States takes a step forward in modernizing its services with the next launch of Walmart +, although the initial date was scheduled for six months before.

Regarding the subscription plan, it is known that it will cost $ 98 per year or $ 12.95 per month and that it will include shipping and same-day delivery costs. It is a service similar to Amazon Prime, from Amazon, the biggest competitor for Walmart.

In this regard, the head of customer relations at Walmart, Janey Whiteside, stated: “We are developing a product that is based on satisfying consumer needs.” She added that the chain’s customers will have discounts on fuel and will be able to purchase some 160,000 products online, in addition to food.
