Walmart proposes blockchain for prepaid electric consumption

The sales giant proposes a patent to cancel the domestic electrical energy in cryptocurrencies from electronic devices

In its foray into the blockchain world, the sales giant Walmart has launched a proposal for a patent based on this technology for prepaid electricity consumption. They are considering transactions from electronic devices to cancel domestic services.

Another objective is to control the demand for electric power through a network specially designed to help supply companies. They have made this known through a document that proposes the reduction and elimination of the inefficient use of the resource and, consequently, the high cost that is passed on to the consumer.

The patent will be decentralized, of independent operation, with a database and central management system. The authority that will operate the system will be the provider. The operation of the patent consists in the prepayment of energy. If a device exhausts the balance it can be reloaded from another device so as not to interrupt the operation.

Given the fact that current devices and applications consume high energy indexes, the patent would be focused on providing the supplier companies with an efficient, low cost and friendly distribution network based on blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

The company had already taken a first step towards blockchain technology in the month of April. At that time they launched a platform for the protection of information about payments and billings. They also have an application for customer preferences regarding online products.
