Walmart partners with Microsoft to acquire TikTok

The measure established a deadline, which is met in November, for the sale of one of the most famous apps

The US retail giant Walmart reported on Thursday its partnership with the technology company Microsoft in negotiations to compare the platform with the goal of sharing TikTok videos, which President Donald Trump threatened to ban if it did not pass into the hands of a US company.

In recent months, TikTok has been under the eye of the diplomatic storm between Washington and Beijing and among the decisions made by the US president is the executive order signed by Trump on August 6, which requires US firms to stop doing business with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, within 45 days.

As expressed by Walmart, “we are confident that a partnership between Walmart and Microsoft would meet the expectations of TikTok users in the United States and, at the same time, satisfy the concerns of US regulators.”

According to the US network CNBC, TikTok is close to an agreement with a buyer to whom it would sell its operations in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for a price of 20,000 to 30,000 million dollars.

And although there is a lot of interest on the part of other Microsoft entrepreneurs, it is the only one with real possibilities, according to analyst Dan Ives, of Wedbush, who estimates the operation even higher, at about 35,000 to 40,000 million dollars.
