Volkswagen will invest thousands of dollars in electric cars

The company indicated this Friday they plan to invest 60,000 million dollars for new fleets of vehicles and digital technology

The German automaker Volkswagen announced that it will allocate new investments of billions of dollars to the manufacture of a fleet of electric cars and digital technologies.

The Board of Directors approved at a meeting in the German city of Wolfsburg the corresponding investment plan for the next five years.

The company expects to invest between 2020 and 2024 about 66.238 million dollars in electric vehicles, hybrid engines and digital technology. This figure represents more than 40% of real and developing investments.

In the last five-year plan, the amount allocated to electric mobility, autonomous driving, networks and mobility services amounted to just under 45,000 million dollars, approximately one third of the total.

One of the objectives of the investments is the expansion of the production of fully electric vehicles. After the reform of the Zwickau factory, Volkswagen plans to “transform” the Emden and Hannover factories for the production of electric vehicles of the ID series.

The plants in China and in the United States will also transform their production, partially or totally, from the manufacture of combustion vehicles to that of electric units.
