Vkontakte will promote cryptocurrencies in Russia

The Russian social networking platform and subsidiary of Mail.ru Group is working on developing its own cryptocurrency

The recognized firm has as a new project the creation of a wallet for its 50 million users in social networks. It will also allow storing and transferring the company’s native digital currency.

Vkontakte is now the second giant of social networks to consider having a crypto-active for its platform. The first social network involved was Facebook which could soon have a currency similar to a stablecoin.

For its part, the Russian media argue that users can reward content developers with the cryptographic currency while they “like” their publications.

If the project is approved, Vkontakte users will be able to transfer the cryptocurrency to other users. They may also make payments for goods and services purchased online.

It should be remembered that in June 2018 the company in collaboration with Gazprombank launched VK Pay, which is a payment system integrated into the platform for users to transfer funds among themselves and make online payments.
