Vietnamese startup Triip will launch its own cryptocurrency

The company, based in Singapore, has also indicated that it will offer its customers reward for the provision of personal data on their travel plans

Tourism industry is already involved in the boom of technological platforms, cryptocurrencies and the development of applications for the comfort of customers. It is the case of the Vietnamese startup Triip (Singapore) which recently announced its intentions to offer rewards to travelers with cryptocurrencies for personal information regarding their travel preferences.

According to a report published in the local magazine Nikkei Asian Review, the startup plans to use its own cryptocurrency called TriipMiles to “buy information to customers about their upcoming travel plans.”

Hai Ho, CEO of the platform, added that companies currently pay a lot of money to Google and Facebook for publishing their data without returning profits, but it is not the case of Triip, which seeks to pay the fair price for data for targeted advertising purposes.

The cryptocurrency will be used by the company to reward travelers who make hotel reservations with Triip, while their data will be sold to hotels, restaurants and other service companies in the tourism industry.

Another announcement of the platform was the launch of a new application for smartphones that has already been downloaded some 50,000 times and with expectations of reaching one million users during 2019.
