Vietnam to ban import of bitcoin mining equipment

After months of discussion, the country is against the cryptocurrency and the importation of mining machines both by companies and by private individuals

According to the information from the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, the importation of bitcoin mining equipment was suspended. The measure applies to both individuals and companies.

The local government was debating this issue for months, after the scam that involved ICOs throughout the country for some 660 million dollars from 32,000 national investors.

Financial security was imposed on mining, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, after the country’s Prime Minister ordered six ministers, the police and the Central Bank to investigate the fraud.

The Ministry of Finance demanded the establishment of strict security measures in the cryptographic sector of the country. The case ended in the prohibition of bitcoin and mining equipment.

Consequently, persons or companies that intend to use cryptocurrencies as a form of payment will be subject to fines and criminal trials.
