Venezuelan government and opposition agreed to fight COVID-19

Both parties confirmed that the country will receive money and other types of aid through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

This Tuesday the Venezuelan government and opposition members signed an agreement that will allow entry of money and other types of aid to the country through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

This was reported by both parties involved. On this regard, Jorge Rodríguez described the agreement as “good news”.

“Both parties propose to work in coordination with PAHO’s support in the search for financial resources that contribute to strengthening the country’s response capacities to face the health emergency caused by the pandemic,” according to the document read by Rodríguez.

For his part, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Juan Guaidó, had previously reported that this agreement would allow the entry of different types of aid, which would combat the situation of the coronavirus in Venezuela.

According to Guaidó, the money comes from various stable accounts that Venezuela has abroad, and which will now be used to provide aid to the Venezuelan people.
